Marilyn Thomas: Due to unforeseen circumstances, there will not be a Thanksgiving Dinner at the Civic Center this year.  Thank you so much to the people who had already offered to help.

We all know black Friday, November 29, is coming and now Cyber Monday, December 2.  Saturday, November 30, has been designated shop locally and shop the small businesses. 

November 30 is Small Business Saturday.  Come to the Ridge and shop.

December 7 Christmas at the Ridge

Primitives at the Ridge: Our Christmas Open House was fantastic.  We had a tremendous amount of customers come out to show their support and to shop for some unique items.  We held a drawing for 2 $50 gift certificates and a Primitive Holy Family.  The winners of these drawings were:

Olde Treasures welcomes four new dealers!  Woo Hoo!  More variety for our shoppers.  Mary Chandler brings animal art and vintage glassware art.  Jorene Decell offers all things vintage, linens, glassware, furniture, etc.. Colleen Morgan is a photography artist offering framed pictures of vintage items as well as other vintage items; and Gail Cockrell offers an eclectic mix of vintage items.  We are always striving to bring the very best of the best to our much appreciated customers.  Come by and check out their goods and make them welcome. We are making preparations for November 30th, Small Business Saturday and December 7th, Christmas at the Ridge.  Come by for more details.

Carlenes:  We have finally finished resetting the shop.  Lots of new pieces have arrived.  A square five legged table with four pressed back chairs, a Victorian Library Table, the cutest little oak Three Drawer Chest, and an Oak Lighted Gun Cabinet.  Come by Thursday through Saturday.  You never know what you will find; face jugs, lots of neat Dude things, glassware and linens.  Thanks for your support.  We are gearing up for Small Business Day, November 30th and Christmas at the Ridge on December 7th.

Billy Rodgers has a collard patch that is ready for harvesting.  His farm is on highway 39.  Come by, pick your own, and leave the money in the box.  Isn’t it nice to have such honesty still abound.

December 8 will be the Green Thumb Garden Club Christmas tour of Homes.

December 8 will be the Christmas Tree Lighting on the Town Square with Santa Claus arriving inhis own unique way.  Do join us.

Nanette Hughes: The Big Red Box is accepting nonperishable food items to take to the Johnston Food Bank. The Upper Room or Our Daily Bread devotional guides are available at the church. These are free or if you like to make a small donation to cover mailing costs, you may do so.

Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church invites everyone to our Thanksgiving Eve Worship Service Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 7:00 pm.  Refreshments will follow in the Educational Building.

  On Sunday, December 1, 2013, Mt. Calvary will have a  “Hanging of the Greens Service” beginning at 7:00 pm.  This service is for the first Sunday in Advent.  It is based on the English tradition of decorating the home with wreaths, garlands, a Christmas tree, and evergreens for Advent and Christmas.  In a church setting, it prepares the sanctuary and members of the church for the season.  It presents the meanings behind the different symbols Christians use during the season.  You will learn the reasons why we use pine and holly, why we decorate our sanctuary with a big tree with Chrismons and what each one means.  This is a wonderful service for all members of the family, young and old.  Please join us as we welcome in the season in which we eagerly await the birth of the Christ Child.  Mr. Steven McKinney, Music Director of Mt. Calvary will be in charge of directing the music and Mrs. Janet Lynn Rodgers will serve as Director.

I love eating at the restaurants in Ridge Spring.  The fresh salads at Juniper are perfect. Every once in a while I bring something form home.  Saturday I brought a sandwich because I knew I could go outside to one of my pots and pick lettuce to put on my sandwich.  It was very good, too.  You can always add a vegetable or herbs to your big pots and have fresh ingredients to your preparations.

Helpful Hands Community Mission, 101 Hazard Circle Ridge Spring, S.C: The Helpful Hands Community Mission had open house Saturday November 16th 10 am - 2pm.  It was a blessed event. Upcoming Events:

 November 30th 12-2pm Fruit for Seniors; Helpful Hands Mission will give fruit bags to seniors 60 and above. Boyz II Gentlemen will assist. 

The Helpful Hands Mission also distributes clothing for those in need by appointment.  For Appointments, Life coaching, biblical counseling, weddings and other ministry needs, call Pastor George W. Josie Rodgers:

What an exciting football Friday all around! The Trojans traveled to Great Falls and beat the Red Devils!  King defeated Clarendon (again!), and Wardlaw got a bit of revenge beating Carolina Academy!  Thurmond and Batesburg also won to move on the play-offs!  RSM will play HKT this Friday. 

The most exciting game will be between Wardlaw and King, FOR THE SCISA 8-MAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!  As of press time, we don’t know the location of this state game.  Isn’t it amazing that so many awesome athletes, coaches, family, and fans are all in one area?  And it is really special that these two schools are connected by family members and friends.  We are very proud of both teams.  In the end, one will be happy and one will be sad, but we will all conduct ourselves with true sportsmanship in the Christian way, just as we practice on a daily basis. Good luck to all teams playing this Friday! 

RSM Elem/Mid News (Rene Miller):  What’s Cookin’ at the Ridge?  Find out on Nov. 21 from 5:30-7:30 pm as we take a look into cross-curriculum teaching with common core standards. Each child will receive a chef’s hat, a bag of writing tools, and handouts. Come and see what takes place in your child’s classroom every day.
